Join us on 31 August
for a repeat of this prestigious event, with a choice of distances to suit all tastes and abilities.
The short run (40 miles) starts in Hellifield, then proceeds to Bolton by Bowland, where there is a cafe stop. After suitable refreshment, back on the bikes to ride to Tosside, Wigglesworth and Settle, where we will stop at the second watering hole. The third stage of the route is from Settle to Airton and a rest and more refreshment at the very attractive cafe and farm shop. After that, it’s a short hop from Airton back to the finish at Hellifield.
For those who want to prove themselves for whatever reason, there is a longer cycle of approximately 60 miles. This will start in Skipton and proceed to Bolton by Bowland via Carleton, Earby and Barnoldswick. After suitable recharging of the batteries at the cafe there, it’s back on the bikes for the leg to Settle, taking in Clapham Common and Austwick. The final cafe stop will be at Airton, then on to Gargrave and back to Skipton.
The plan is that both groups will meet up at all three cafes and ride a short distance together before going their separate ways.
Start times
40 miles – Hellifield – 10-00 am
60 miles – Skipton – 9-30 am

Thanks for a really great day. Didn’t see as much of the other group as we’d have liked, but Messrs Bramham, Morris and Weeden were very kind to me as I lagged behind. Spectacular route, quiet back roads and stunning scenery. Even the weather was kind!
Top stuff!

It was the longest paper round I’ve ever done and definately the most enjoyable. Thanks for lovely day out and to all the top bike fettlers. Hope you managed to get all the oil off John. May be best to take up Marks offer of the rubber gloves next time?

I suspect this comment may well never be read it’s so long after the event but it was an excellent day made even happier by the look on Mark’s face when his link extractor got all oily!! It was the way that all the sheep ran bleating from the fell that put me off the rubber gloves! Thanks to all who were so encouraging to Pat and George – I look forward with great anticipation to the day when they can afford to by a round in a cafe (but then I suspect by then they may be able to beat me up hills!!)
