K & C results – not prepared to analyse these – too embarrassing…
except the V40′s did very well! 53rd
V50 did quite well (except navigation leg!)
80th
A team did nearly as well
Ladies – first relay – fantastic, as Charlie said – If they’d put the checkpoints in the correct place we’d have won!

Wow, I was only 30 secs behind Shaun on my leg. I’m retiring from running now after such a good finish.
The decision to retire is in no relation to the fact that I am currently unable to walk downstairs.
Did anyone else on leg 4 go straight down the river from checkpoint 2, what a smile!

Some good individual results there. Well done to the ladies on their first attempt at a difficult event. For many of the other teams it’s their usual running territory, takes the pressure off for them when navigation is such an important issue. Thanks for representing the rest of us who either couldn’t run or wouldn’t.

Emily says:
Well actually if you look at the splits we weren’t quite that fast!
Victoria was fantastic and didn’t complain once when I dragged her over every heathery, tussocky, hill in the area on the “navigation” leg.
Thanks to all the K and C women who did such a great job. They helped me organise, didn’t moan about which leg they were on, turned up, smiled, ran really well in tough conditions and made the most of the experience.
It was a real team effort.

Yes, great result from Emily and Victoria, leg of the day. Andy and Mark had a good run too. The less said about the A-team nav leg the better – more work needed there I think!

A big thank you to Mark W for organising the v40 team, despite the grief he got from me and the other teams poaching our so called best runners.
Thanks also to Des for blowing on leg one 10 mins after me meaning he only beat me by a bit and therefore I must be faster than him.

Charlie says:
Looks like the V50 were third in their category & only 25 minutes behind Clayton the V50 winners. Good navigation could have made that small gap up me thinks.

I think Em & Vic r excellent. As i was finishing leg 4 I could hear their names bein’ shouted out in the finish arena. I thought, my god that must be prize givin and they’ve won. I later found out they’d only just finished.

A bit late with my response – sorry – only just read the comments. It was a cracking day and I’m very proud to have been part of KCAC and the ladies team who did a great job – thanks Emily for organising us.
I just want to share a little snapshot of my leg with Emily. Having navigated brilliantly (and by herself as I have no navigational skills whatsoever!) we had climbed, and climbed and climbed some more – spiderman had nothing on us. We were pretty exhausted by the last checkpoint but then another team came up behind us (they set off at the same time as us but got lost). They were led rather arrogantly by a male runner who was just keen to overtake us and beat us to the finish. With a few hundred metres to go and the finish in site, I competitively suggested that maybe we could ‘have them’ and over take – to which Emily’s response was along the lines of “you can f**king f**k off if you think I’m going to be able to f**king catch them” – there was nothing more to be said. I think that just sums up how tough it had been!!
Well done everyone.
