About 5 hrs 10 mins I think. 25 degrees didn’t help them much but at least they didn’t need the paramedics like so many of the runners yesterday. It was a day to spectate not run!

Well done Helen & Bev. Fantastic given that the weather was so hot. Bev looked as if she had done nothing more than a casual training run yesterday whilst down at Duathlon tonight. A marathon in 25 degrees is serious stuff so great achievement.

Helen and Bev – really well done! I saw you at about the half way point, but you’d gone past me before I could shout hello. The heat was horrendous, what an experience for your first marathon, I hope it doesn’t put you off doing another. I saw numerous people collapsed at the side of the road, apparently 1 poor man died, and 8 were hospitalised. So it is brilliant that you finished, you should be really proud of yourselves.

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes and sponsorship. It was a very painful experience – think I’ll stick to halves in future! The heat was dreadful and I’m very disappointed that the final 8 miles took nearly two hours. I’ve always been in awe of people who capable of running marathons and even more so now. I think anyone who does more than one might need their heads read though!!
