The KCAC Juniors were out in force on Saturday at Ripon representing the Harrogate & Craven Schools in the North Yorkshire Schools qualifier for the English Schools finals later in the year. A copy of the final results is attached.
There were some brilliant performances during the day on a flat, hard and boring course (that may have come from the Fell runners !) but with plenty of sunshine and a relatively decent temperature, the juniors were on fine form. Even tired legs from the Yorkshires the week before did not dampen the spirits.
Sam Headley gained top honours for the day. Having ran from the front in the Year 7 boys race, he took a fantastic win. He was closely followed by Donnabhan, Andrew, Addison and Sam
The year 7 girls saw Beth take a very well deserved 2nd place after a great battle. Emma, Mia, Scarlett and Hannah all producing fine runs and all coming in the top 13.
The junior boys race was a sprint from the start and the KCAC boys were led in by Harvey, closely followed by Louis, Arthur and Finlay. All finishing in the top 16 cherished spots.
Lilli ran a tremendous race in the junior girls taking a superb 3rd spot. Not a fan of the flat course, she stormed her way around and showed great spirit in trying to reel in the leaders.
Joe, Sam J, Ryan and Sam T all ran with great style in the inter boys and came away with 2nd, 5th,8th and 26th places respectively. Sam richly deserved his 5th spot after a fine battle in the finishing straight.
The inter girls race had some great talent competing and Katie produced a fine run to finish just outside of the top 10.
Jimmy seemed to cruise around the course finishing in a fantastic 6th place, which saw man of the moment George Mills taking the top honours.
Hannah, although admitting to enjoying the race, did miss her hills but came in a credible 11th spot in the senior girls.
Well done to everyone who qualified through to represent North Yorkshire schools on 4th February at Kirby Stephen.
The year 7 boys and girls who finished in the top 6 and qualified to run for North Yorkshire in Leicester on 25th March
And, finally, the year 8 & above boys and girls who finished in the top 6 and automatically qualified to represent North Yorkshire schools at the prestigious English Schools Country Championships in Norwich on March 18th.
Brilliant performances, well done everyone.
