Wednesday Social Runs

The Wednesday night off-road social runs are  mixed group that comes together at 6.45pm every week somewhere in the K&C catchment area – we usually run from a favoured pub, as catch-up chat is a valued part of the evening, and we’re regularly joined by one or two road runners, cyclists and walkers who want to keep in touch. Venues this summer have included Stanbury, Crosshills, Lothersdale, Keighley and Addingham. The run is 5-6 miles, led by one (or more) of the group who knows the locality: it typically involves some rough moorland as well as tracks, mud, gradients, gates and stiles of varying quality – sometimes even a bit of road. We’re out for 75-90 minutes, so it’s a slow/steady pace, reflecting both the terrain and that we’re not all in the first flush of youth!

New faces are welcome – we’re planning to run from Kildwick during October and Haworth in November. Please be aware that these are informal runs, we don’t leave anyone behind but conditions vary and those taking part are responsible for themselves and their own safety. Studded fell/trail shoes are strongly recommended, and a headtorch is essential for much of the year. The group keeps in contact mainly through WhatsApp, which means we can update info on venues and any changes.
